iOS 18 leak
✴️New Apple chips revealed in iOS 18 leak ✴️
๐A recent leak has uncovered details about Apple’s upcoming chips for its devices. The information came from a YouTube video posted last month in China, showing an iPhone 16 prototype running an early version of iOS 18 from March 2024. This version lacks a user interface, but its code mentions several new chips, according to a MacRumors source.
✴️The leak highlights the A19 chip, expected to power the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and possibly the iPhone 17e. A more advanced A19 Pro chip is likely for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Additionally, an M5 chip is set to appear in devices like the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac, iPad Pro, and Vision Pro.
๐Another exciting find is the “Proxima” chip, a new Apple-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip for the next Apple TV and HomePod mini. This chip might support faster Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, improving connectivity over the current Wi-Fi 6 in Apple TV and Wi-Fi 4 in HomePod mini.
๐Apple is moving away from third-party chips, like those from Broadcom, to create its own, similar to its shift from Intel for Mac processors. The leak also mentions tests of a Mac Pro with an M3 Ultra chip, but it’s unclear if it will launch. There’s no sign of an M4 Ultra chip, suggesting the Mac Pro might wait for an M5 Ultra upgrade
