🍎Apple has finally turned things around in China, with iPhone sales rising 8% in the quarter ending June 2025, marking the first growth in two years. This comes after a tough period for the company, which faced challenges from U.S.-China trade tensions and strong competition from local brands like Huawei.
For the past two years, Apple’s revenue in China dropped in nearly every quarter, with declines as steep as 13%. Earlier this year, iPhone shipments fell, making Apple the only major smartphone brand to report a decrease in the first quarter.
Things started to improve in April with a slight uptick in sales. Apple joined a Chinese government subsidy program and offered discounts during May’s 618 shopping festival, which helped boost demand. These efforts paid off, showing early signs of recovery in June.
Despite this progress, Huawei remains a tough competitor, posting a 12% sales increase and leading the market, followed by Vivo, with Apple in third place. This rebound is good news for Apple, especially as it faces pressure from trade issues and Huawei’s strong comeback with advanced chip technology.
Investors are hopeful, but Apple still needs to navigate a competitive market and potential tariff challenges to keep this growth going.
