These advanced machines, such as the Plantio-100, are capable of planting over 100 trees per hour. Unlike traditional methods, these robots use artificial intelligence to analyze the terrain, including soil composition, moisture, shade, and topography.
Based on these factors, they select appropriate native tree species to plant, aiming to replicate the diversity and structure of natural forests rather than creating monocultures.
This results in more resilient and ecologically balanced ecosystems.
One of the most innovative aspects of these robots is their ability to inject mycorrhizal fungi at the time of planting, which supports root development and increases tree survival rates.
These rates can reach up to 87%, significantly higher than conventional manual planting methods. The robots also record the GPS coordinates of each sapling and monitor its growth over time.
Powered by solar energy, they are designed to work in remote and environmentally challenging areas like the Amazon rainforest, where reforestation is urgently needed.
This AI-driven approach not only increases the scale and speed of reforestation efforts but also enhances long-term forest health.
